For ALL Counselors:
The next time you’re searching for referrals, you’ll notice a new field called “Keywords” – we’ve been planning this for a while and we were finally able to add it! Here you can type in anything you want and your search will come up with all referrals that have that keyword in the description.
For example, if you are looking for a referral that offers meditation, you can type that in the keyword box, and when you click search, all referrals that have meditation in the description will come up. Or, if you’re looking for a hotline for Buffalo and forget that it’s listed under New York State Hotlines, you can type Buffalo in the keyword search and it will come up. Think of this new feature like the details search for Known Callers.
This will be especially helpful in situations where there is no category for that particular service, or if you couldn’t find a certain category that you’re looking for. It also works in conjunction with the category and town search, so please note that this will further narrow down the search results and you may need to change your search criteria for more referrals to come up if you can’t find anything.
This feature can also help if you are looking for a specific service that is provided by an agency, which can be useful if a caller is asking for a certain program by name. For example, the referral FREE (Family Residences & Essential Enterprises, Inc.) offers a program called NY Start, which does not have a separate listing. If you were trying to find NY Start for a client and couldn’t remember what agency provides it, this would help with that.
Lastly, as agencies rebrand and change names, I try to include the old name in the referral description. If you are looking for a referral that you know we have, but can’t find, you can try this keyword search to look up the old name and it might pop up. However, there’s also a chance that the agency you’re looking for no longer exists and was deactivated, so take that with a grain of salt.
We hope that you’re excited about this new feature, I know I am! Please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected] if you have any questions or issues with this new update.
