Hello Counselors,
I have added a new referral to the referrals database. It is the website Psychologytoday.com. This is a great website where callers can search profiles for therapists, psychiatrists and other providers. The description says a lot more, so please read the description on your next shift! You can find it under categories “counseling”, “telehealth”, “private practitioner”, “mental health” and some others.
While we do have wonderful providers and agencies that we offer to callers, this is one extra thing they can have in their back pocket, in case they need other referrals in the future. Someone may not be “ready” to take a referral you offer them, but if they have Psychology Today, it is there for them when they become ready.
In addition, the website offers various ways to search for private therapists, which might be more helpful to some callers than others. You will not do the search yourself for the caller LOL. But you can read the description to the caller so they are informed about how to use the website. In addition, Psychology Today is a great resource for articles and information about various mental health topics.
