Community Meeting Minutes
10/3/23 & 10/4/23
1. People who attended the meeting began the meeting, not with a “fun fact”, but with how long they have been with LICC and what specifically made them join. We found out a lot about each other which was heartwarming. Christine and Theresa admitted to joining so we could gain experience and then leave for a School Counselor position. The Long Island school districts lost big but we would not have it any other way.2. Online Message Book: Luckily, unlike what happened on Seinfeld, there is NO risk of the online message book landing in the bathroom. Therefore, you can read it whenever you like! We mentioned that it is super important to read the message book every time you begin your shift. We put everything noteworthy in the message book, because we do not want to flood your email inbox. Only things of a highly time-sensitive, urgent matter will be emailed to you. Look to the book! This can be found in the Counselor Manual; just scroll down and you will see it before you get to the main subject areas.
3. Infobase: Frank has written up some thorough instructions in case Infobase should go down, which has been happening on and off this month. See reference above: they are housed in the Message Book! Please print out the instructions so you have them in case technology is not behaving. In addition if Infobase is down, go to this website to get into the Counselor Manual: wiki.licconline.org. When you get into the manual, you may see our new website host, GoDaddy and it will ask you to log in with GoDaddy. Please disregard that and just click where it says “log in with username and password”.
4. Christine briefly addressed all that LICC can do, and guess what? We do it all! We are a crisis prevention and intervention hotline, a warmline, and a helpline (where we offer referrals). In some states these are designated as separate lines, but in NY, we have the dubious distinction to provide it all, depending on what the caller needs in that moment. We can and should offer warmlines to our Known Callers, as they are another option for them. At the same time, if we counsel as a warm line for a few minutes, it does not invalidate our work as a crisis intervention line.
Chat is back! See below……
5. CHAT IS BACK—Chat Live has returned. Elaine may not want to talk, but we want to talk, all the time, even through chat. We are advertising our Chat Live services in the schools, and this is a great way to get younger clients the help they need! It is available from 7am-11pm every day. What is important is to enable the chat feature in your Five9 profile. To do this, when logged in, click on the top green section where it says “ready for….” This should open another dialogue box where you can click off “voice” and “text”. By clicking “text” this will enable you to get chats. You should only have to do this once – it should come up that way every time you sign on once you’ve done it. Dana created an amazing mini manual on how to do chats with success, so please review that. It is in the counselor manual under “Chat Training Power Points”.
Stay tuned for the next community meeting dates.
That’s all folks……cc
