Hi Everyone,
Just a few reminders when filling out your cards:
- Please remember to ask for Publicity when you’re on a call. We like to find out how callers heard about us so we know how we’re reaching people and how effective our different methods of advertising are and how effective our Community Education program has been in reaching students. A good time to ask Publicity would be when searching for referrals or right before wrapping up the call. If you forget to ask, please select “Not Given,” but do not leave this field blank.
- If you identify a Known Caller, please remember to check off the “Known Caller” card category and select “Prior Experience” as the Publicity.
- TheĀ Primary Category should not be “Known Caller” or “Mental Health – Other” unless there are literally no other applicable categories for the issues the client is calling to discuss. Remember that if someone says they’re feeling depressed, even if they don’t specify a depression diagnosis, you can now check off “Mental Health – Depression.” The same goes for “Mental Health – Anxiety.”
- While it’s not information we typically ask for, please do not leave the “Ethnicity” field blank. You can always put “Unknown,” but sometimes this information does come out through the course of the call if it’s relevant to the client’s situation.
988 Reminders:
- All callers on 988 should be asked if they are feeling suicidal, and a lethality assessment should be documented accordingly. If they are not suicidal, please state that in your call summary.
- All callers who are feeling suicidal, even low lethality adults out of area, should be offered a suicide follow-up call (except for Known Callers). If they accept, give them the Middle Earth number (516-679-1111) and let them know that this is the number that will show up on their phone when we call them. If you offer the follow-up and they decline, please remember to document this under the yellow “Follow-Up” ribbon. Also, please remember to get the client’s name, which can be made up, for us to make the follow-up call.
Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.
Thanks,
Frank
