To All Counselors,
While the majority of crises we handle are usually related to suicide, on occasion, we do have callers who speak about homicide. There is a new caller who is threatening homicide, and we are taking this seriously. Here is the information:
Please review the new KC Jay/”J” re: suicide on 988.
*In case of an intervention, CLT name is “Josiah Landi”; address is 11 Farrington Ave., Bay Shore 11706 and his phone number is 516-838-2761. He is also added to the Five9 caller ID, so when he calls, his KC name and phone number will display. There are about 20 calls from him so far.
Please also review the “homicide” section in the manual. The premise to de-escalate a homicidal client is similar to that of the suicidal client: assess for plan, see if he can create distance from the means and in this case his “target victim”, and assess for ambivalence, what would stop him from doing this, and potential consequences of this act.
911 and DASH (in Suffolk County) have already been involved with this client. If he begins to escalate in the call and seems intent on harm, I ask that you reach out to administrative staff immediately. In particular you can contact Christine at 516-547-8789 and I will conduct an intervention right away if he is not able to be de-escalated. I can also listen in to the call, even if you just need support with this client.
Please contact Administrative Staff with questions or concerns. Thank you for all you do. Keep Calm and Carry On…..
Christine
